Description

Long and narrow bottle covered in red-brown leather (part a). Body of bottle has four distinct ridges that are decorated with light brown, dark brown, and red coloured woven leaf bands. Neck of bottle is decorated with brown fringe. Large leather label on body with inscription in bold letters says: "LEATHER ENCASED BOTTLE GAMBIA-AFRICA." Part b is the cork stopper to the bottle, has a decorative band of woven leaf fibres around the top and is attached to a long strip of leather.

Narrative

The documentation from the Sisters of Saint Ann Museum says this was collected by Mrs. K. Widdowson and acquired in 1944.
