Description

Circular metal gong with characters written in red marker and several stamps inked onto the interior. Gong has a convex surface and three fabric ties attached to holes punched evenly around the edge.

Narrative

Made pre-WWII, based on hammering technique. The red writing on the back is written in simplified Chinese, whereas the black stamps are in traditional Chinese. The red writing along the top is the troupe name; the character in the middle is the size of the gong; the black stamp at the centre (back) says "Wah Sing Yin Paint, China".
