Description

Several braided bands of grass are bundled together to form a thick belt strap. Strap is embellished with three sections of striped beading. Striped beading design are in white, black, red, and green. Skin ties are at both ends of the belt.

History Of Use

Isibhamba type of belt, worn by North Nguni married women after childbirth (see ‘Zulu Treasures’, p. 142, fig. G35).
