Description

Print showing two men kneeling on the right side with another figure standing on the left side. The standing figure has long black hair with a brown face and is wearing yellow and brown checkered clothing with a white garment covering the upper portion. The kneeling man furthest back is wearing a long, white headdress and clothing that has a white and blue floral pattern with yellow and green leaves on an orange background. The kneeling man furthest forward is wearing a green scarf on his head and clothing that is yellow, orange, and brown on top with a dark blue overcoat and brown, purple, yellow, and green on the bottom. The background goes from grey on the left side to beige on the right side. The print is horizontally rectangular.

Narrative

The print is called Nurishi (塗師) from the series Kyōgen Gojūban (狂言五十番; Fifty Kyōgen plays), which had been started by her father, Tsukioka Kōgyo (月岡耕漁) and published in 1927 by Daikokuya (大黒屋). The print is signed Kōbun (江文) with her red seal, 月岡 (Tsukioka).
