Irregularly shaped piece of tan-coloured hide with many machine-made stitches with black thread.

Narrative

The donor, Lillian French, worked as a nurse and a teacher in several communities in British Columbia, the Yukon and Northwest Territories, between the late 1930s and 1960s. The communities included Alert Bay, BC, Port Simpson, BC; Old Crow, YT; and Fort MacPherson, NWT. During those years she collected examples of handicrafts, and received gifts from her pupils and patients.
