Description

Brown leather purse with red, yellow and black designs, flaps and tassels. The body of the purse is brown with black trim around the edges. There are two red flaps, one on the front and back. On the flap is a black diamond surrounded by swirls beneath a yellow diamond patterned band. The flap is closed with a large woven brown button. Underneath the flap is a black diamond with curled ends surrounded by four red hearts. The designs on and under the flap are the same on both sides. Hanging from the beneath the flaps is a brown leather tassel. The handle of the purse is a dark brown cord threaded through brown loops attached to the body of the purse and secured by black and red woven buttons on the ends. Hanging down the sides of the purse, beneath the brown loops, are long and short decorated leather strips and a long fringe.

Classified as a "ladies' leather handbag," by old documentation from the Sisters of Saint Ann Museum.
