Description
Basket woven with two strand twined weaving with border at top of alternate twined weave and twisted weave (three-strand weft).
Narrative
This spruce-root cylindrical basket appears to be of Haida origin, but the collector (pre-1932) had tagged it as having been collected in Alert Bay. The basket may have been mislabelled by the collector, or it might have ended up in a Kwakwaka'wakw community through trade or intermarriage.
