Description

Ginning machine, made of several types of hardwood; light to dark brown; frame (part a) with two interlocking, carved worm gears (parts c and d) turned by crank handle, secured in place with a peg to the gear, all held in place by two (parts e and f) blocks and one wedge (part g). The base is held upright by a hardwood support bar (part b), which is inserted in a hole in the base of the frame.

History Of Use

Used for processing raw cotton by separating it from its' seeds as cotton is pushed through the gear mechanism. There has been a change in recent years from ginning, spinning, and production of cotton to buying or trading in the market place.
