Description
A brown leather jacket (part a) fits over a folded cotton pin-cushion (part b) which opens to reveal a pocket to store needles. A large steel neddle, and strip of wool are inside. The cushion is covered in red-dyed cotton, and bound at the bottom in a leather piece which has two metal eyes, and a leather pull-tab. Braided cord strap.
History Of Use
The man's sewing kit is carried in his sash. It is in constant use for any Ladakhi who carries sacks of produce which must be sewn shut. The Ladakhi man would also use it to mend his clothing.
