Description
Red cotton blouse with embroidery and stripe pattern. The blouse has a square shape with a square neckline and no sleeves. Across the upper front and back are rows of embroidered diamond, animal and bird motifs in dark blue and purple on red ground. The embroidery is 2-faced supplementary weft. The stripe pattern has thin vertical stripes in green overall. Along the bottom hem is a twisted red fringe. The inside is unlined.
History Of Use
An huipil is a traditional tunic-like garment worn by women. Usually made of 1-3 pieces of back strap loom woven fabric lengths, joined at side selvedges. They are often elaborately decorated with supplementary weft brocading or embroidery.
