Description
Round red-brown gourd decorated with parallel rings of geometric white designs etched in low relief on a yellow ground. Appears unused.
History Of Use
Ceremonial food is served in gourds at funerals and placed on graves. Also used for festive food at christenings and betrothals. Religious specialists use gourds, known as de brujo, to hold articles that belong to persons to whom they are bringing good or bad fortune.
