Description
Poncho style tunic made of two long rectangular pieces folded at the top and sewn down the side and the centre. A small area was left open for the arms; slit opening for the neck. The textile is light brown with striped bands of green, blue and pink on the centre and the sides. The middle is decorated with black and brown painted geometrical designs. Wide painted black band at bottom.
History Of Use
The cushma has been noted in the region since 1767. It is usually a man's garment. Clothing like this was traditionally reserved for special occasions. With the introduction of Western-style clothes, traditional garments are worn even less frequently.
