Description

Light orange-brown black-figure lekythos. Jug has a single handle and black designs, and is made with orange-brown clay, fine-grained with fine gold mica. The jug is covered with a light orange-brown wash, partially polished and thick glossy paint, mottled by misfiring. The tall thin ovoid body narrows towards the bottom and sits on a flat brown ring base. The shoulders slope in sharply to a low narrow neck and a trumpet mouth. The small vertical handle is attached at the neck and shoulder. The scene on the jug is in black and brown and contains a centaur, with bearded head, wearing a close fitting cap.
