Description
Wood figure representing a male carved in the half-round with painted decoration. Skin is painted yellow. Has eyes, eyebrows, and three diagonal red marks in the middle of the forehead. Has a small red mouth with a black moustache. Has black hair in a trapezoid shape decorated with white dots. Wearing a high round red, green, white, and black headpiece. Has a red robe decorated with horizontal white lines, and circles. His green coat is decorated with curvi-linear white and black lines and dots.
History Of Use
Wood toys are produced chiefly by artisans whose traditions include carpentry, stone cutting, and wood and ivory carving. Toys are also carved by women who use the proceeds from the sale for extra income.
