Description

Brass spoon with slightly concave marquise shaped bowl, upturned at end opposite handle, which is one piece with bowl; handle is flat on under surface, rounded on upper surface and flattened at end. Handle is .7 cm. Wide, widening to 1 cm. At the ends. Surface is shiny and unmarked.

History Of Use

Brass spoons for eating, as well as brass bowls and chopsticks, are commonly used by wealthier people in Korea. This spoon may possibly have been for women's use, as women's utensils are often different from men's. Alternatively, it may have been specially made for foreigners, or as a temple fitting.
