A tumpline of woven cedar bark with a widened headband and side lines which are plaited and taper to knotted ends. It is coiled up and wrapped around the headband.; Good

Context

The catalogue card states the tumpline was made by Esquimault Indians, on the outskirts of Victoria, Salish stock . The original European tribal names and, where possible, current tribal names have both been given in separate GLT fields.; McIlwraith has written on the catalogue card, The widened part is worn against the fore-head and bundles fastened to the long ends hang down the back.
