Description

Carved wooden totem pole bearing five creatures which include an owl, a beaver and a bear. The other creatures are not readily identifiable. The totem pole is painted with red, blue, green and black which accentuates the carved details. It is a totem pole typical of those carved for sale in the 1920' s and 30' s, indeed it has $4.00 price penciled on its back. The totem pole is mounted on a blue platform so it stands upright very easily.; Good

Context

The style of this pole leads me to suggest it could be Tsimshian, however without provenance it is hard to accurately assert an identity (G.Crowther). The original European tribal names and, where possible, current tribal names have both been given in separate GLT fields.
