Description
Degraded hook in isosceles triangle shape; one edge is flat; two opposite edges meet at a wide angle. Four holes along shortest side. Incised band of two lines with short lines at right angles run across hook on both sides at widest point. One side is relatively smooth and rounded, opposite convex side is rough. Thickly coated in varnish or resin.
History Of Use
Blubber hooks, common on the Alaska coast, are used to catch hold of pieces of blubber during the process of butchering sea mammals. They may also be used as boat hooks.
