Description
Rectangular, square-based basket with somewhat flaring walls to a circular rim. Sides decorated with four horizontal rows of black wefts. The rim with a braided edge is reinforced with a bundle and wrapped with cedar bark.
History Of Use
Basketry filled a vital need as containers for storage domestic use and transportation of goods. Some had multiple uses; others were made for specific functions. After European contact, used for trade and sale items. Forms have been altered to meet European tastes. Basketry making was and is a women's art.

Specific Techniques
The basket was woven in simple plaiting, 4 strips of black overlay were used. The rim was constructed by placing the warp ends against reinforcing bundles and securing them with wrapping.
