Description

Round twined basket with a square plaited base. Walls have twining going in two directions and are decorated with bands of dark red-brown stitches. Rim is finished with a row of three ply twining with alternating stitches: two stitches yellow-brown and one stitch red-brown with the warps cut off.

History Of Use

Basketry filled a vital need as containers for storage domestic use and transportation of goods. Some had multiple uses; others were made for specific functions.
