Octopus figure consisting of a stuffed light brown cloth with circular, bone button eyes and braided cedar bark tentacles. The cloth forms a round head and a square shaped neck, the fabric has remnants of red colouring. The mouth is triangular in shape and made with a strip of braided cedar bark. Small strips of skin are sewn around the cedar bark tentacles at the top and bottom of each braid. A few small pieces of feather are adhered to the skin.
This was probably held by a dancer during the winter dances of the Nuu-chah-nulth (Ron Hamilton, Port Alberni). Probably not shaman's paraphernalia.
