Petroglyph rubbing on burlap with light green ink. A. Arnold 1/30/2004 From "Descriptive Catalogue of Petroglyph Prints for the University of Washington, from The Dalles Dam Resevoir, 1956." by Mark Hedden, located in the Archaeology Archives: Large face, with an unusual triangular headpiece, two arms directly attached to the sides of the face, bent at the elbows, with hands spread (one, counted, has six fingers), hollow ovoid eyes, skull-like head outline, lenticular mouth, angular (possibly mean as triangle) nose, and a necklace or whiskers along lower portion of the face. In addition, the left hand appears to be holding a triangular device with rays. Other figures include: a sheep with horns curved back, & hooves spread; an arc with rays; an unclear design which shows two hands outstretched, a small circular head, & irregular body. (The motif of hands directly attached to the head of a figure appears often on masks among the Kwakiutl, & Tunghat masks from Yukon Valley, Alaska).
