Description

Cap with an embroidered butterfly design.

Longer Description

Hat in the style of a baseball cap made from black cotton textile. The cap has a stiffened and curved peak or brim. The cap can be adjusted to fit the wearer's head by loosening or tightening a strap at the back, held in place by a metal buckle. A butterfly motif [see Primary Documentation field for the significance of this motif] has been embroidered on the front of the cap in bright red yarn. A metal button covered in the same black textile has been fixed to the top of the crown of the hat. Also on the crown of the cap are six perforations, edged with stitching in black yarn. These perforations are allow air to circulate inside the cap. The hat has been stitched by machine. [MdeA 11/03/2008]
