Description

Hollow, ceramic sculpture of a standing human figure with hands at sides and wearing an elaborately ornamented tunic and headdress. The tunic is decorated with a repeated double tusk-like motif in relief, cross-hatching, incised lines simulating fringes, and a bead-like border. A plain breechcloth is visible below the tunic. The double-flap headdress, over an elaborate coiffure, is decorated with the same applied motifs. The figure wears large nose and ear rings, and arm and leg bands. Traces of yellow and green pigment are visible over the entire piece, and there is a large opening in the top of the head. Condition: Excellent, except for some losses in the applied borders and ornaments.
