Description

Canoe bailer with a curved rectangular base made from a piece of cedar bark supported with wood strips that have been inserted into the bark, the ends pleated and bent perpendicular to the base into a triangular shape, and the gathered ends bound with string to a length of wood that extends between them to serve as a handle.

Narrative

Collector's note said the bailer is from Rivers Inlet. Noted as a gift from F. J. (Francis James?; 1888-1969) Brandrith, to the Laboratory of Archaeology, in 1957.
