Part of a set of 5 stencils representing a diving whale. The stencil depicts a dorsal fin with a head inside its lower half and a larger head that points down and away from the fin. The larger head has a front-facing eagle head in its eye. The stencil has a combination of cutout, painted, and drawn areas. The cutout areas have been used as a stencil with black paint. Both sides have been used. Part b appears to be a blank area to replace a prior, discarded design.
2694/1-5 were stencils used by Reid to paint Haida designs on a linen bedspread he and his wife Martine made for their bed when they were married. The bedspread was shown in a photograph in an article titled "At Home With Bill Reid" in Western Living magazine in 1986.
