Description

Black damask robe with rounded neck, wide sleeves and centre opening with gold frog closures. There are slits in the sides and back. The damask is woven containing a diamond pattern. On the upper front and back is a large rectangular badge. The badge has a left facing quail, representing the eighth civil rank. Surrounding the bird are wave, cloud and sun motifs as well as the Buddhist emblems of good fortune. Around the badge is a gold border with a bat motif and Chinese character. On the front, the badge is split in two over the centre opening.
