Description

Shallow portable altar with two tiers inside. The outside of the altar is painted light grey with various flower motifs over top. On the exterior of the left door, there is a blue and purple flower. The flower on the right door is painted dark grey and red. Above the doors, on the façade of the altar, there is a piece of wood that creates a gently rounded roofline; it is painted red. The interior of the doors have flowers painted on them. The top tier within the altar has small clay figures depicting the four evangelists who are lined against the back wall of the altar. On the left, an evangelist holds a small animal (lamb?) in his right arm and a staff in his left arm. He has long black hair, a halo and wears a red robe. Next to him, another evangelist holds a book and a staff and wears a brown robe and a red cape. To his right, a haloed evangelist holds a staff with a cross at its top. He also holds a lamb. The evangelist on the furthest right holds a pen in one hand and a book in the other. Between the evangelists’ heads, there are small clay objects attached to the back wall of the altar, which look like a bird’s-eye-view of wide-brimmed hats. In front of the evangelist on the furthest left there is a woman who wears a red head scarf, peaked cap and brown skirt, holding an unknown object. There is a child to the right who wears a grey shirt, red suspenders and red pants, also with an unknown object. Right of the child, there is an animal (bull?) resting on all fours; it has horns and red and black fur. Next to this animal, there is another animal with horns, possibly a goat. There is a dark grey squirrel next to the goat. In front of the child, there is a very small horse wearing a saddle and bridle. There is a small dog (?) that appears to be sniffing the horse. Next to the dog, there is a tall animal with curved horns, possibly a ram. A brown llama (?) sits on all fours right of the ram. A yellow and red bird with black stripes stands on the ground right of the llama. A yellow and black striped animal that has lost its head is right of the bird. On the furthest right in the foreground of the top tier, there is a black and red bird that stands with its beak pointing upwards. The tier below depicts Earth. On the ceiling of this tier, there is a dark blue bird flying over the Earth. In the background on the left side of the altar, there is a man in a red shirt and yellow hat holding a small bundle of grain. Next to him, a man holds a large bundle of grain or sticks. To his right, there is a man in a pointed cap, red shirt and black pants. He holds a jug over his left shoulder. The man to the right wears a spotted hat and holds a book open in his right hand. There are three women right of the man who holds the book. They hold various small utensils. In front of the man on the furthest left, a man rides a horse and holds a stringed instrument (guitar?). A woman in a red head scarf kneads dough to the right of the horse. A man in a red cap and red shirt approaches this woman from the right. There is a spotted animal with red spots and horns (bull?) next to the man in the red cap. There is a man crouched in front of the back legs of the spotted animal; he appears to be milking it. Right of the spotted animal, a man pets a four legged animal. In front of the man on the horse, there is a small grey rabbit. Next to the rabbit, there are small balls of dough clustered together on the ground. There is a small four-legged animal looking at the dough on the ground. There is a rooster right of the small animal. Next to the rooster, there is a yellow and red duck that has lost its head. A blue spotted animal sits on its hind legs next to the duck. There is a small grey dish on the furthest left in the foreground. Throughout the background of the altar, there are small red and grey spots. Two numbers are written in pencil on the back of the object.
