Description

Painting on a handkerchief of cupid nestled on roses. The perimeter of the image is surrounded by a dark grey border with curlicue yellow and orange banners around the edges. In the lower left and upper right corners, a flower and heart motif is repeated. In the left corner, the heart has purple text that reads “George” and in the right corner, the heart has purple text that reads “Dora.” The background behind the central image is purple. On the left side of the image, there is orange and black text that reads “I love you honey.” In the centre of the image, a thorny green stem curls up from the bottom and splits into several stems near the top of the image. At the bottom of the stem, a yellow banner wraps around the stem and a large red heart on the left side of the stem. Where it crosses the heart, the yellow banner reads “Dora.” Over the top right ventricle of the heart there is a small rose bud. It is surrounded by a few green leaves. Above and to the right of this small bud, there is a larger rose bud. A cherub or cupid sits on one of the petals of the large rose. The cherub has pale pink skin, blonde hair, wings with pale blue feathers and yellow along the top edge and a blue sash wrapped around his body. In his right hand, the cherub holds onto a branch of the rose. At the top of the branch that the cherub holds, there is a rose bud that has not yet opened. Behind the cherub’s head, there is another small rose bud. In the lower right corner of the purple space, there is orange and black text that reads “George.” Part b is the envelope the handkerchief was mailed in, with hand-drawn floral images on the outside.
