Description

Wooden pipe. The larger piece (part a) is decorated on the middle third with two thin bands of painted, cross-hatched design on either side of a reddish middle panel featuring intertwined abstract designs. At the centre of these design are triangles containing hourglass shapes. The designs are outlined in dark brown pigment and filled in with many parallel horizontal lines. At one end of part (a) the wood is coloured darker than the rest of this piece and wrapped in a thick band of synthetic fibre. Part b is undecorated aside from a small band of stylized ‘v’ shapes. There are ash remains inside both parts. Both parts have tape wrapped around them, one at the end, the other at midsection.
