Description

Wooden antelope-like figure in a standing position (part a). Animal is carved from multiple pieces of wood; ears are painted black, rest of components are red. Head and body are one piece. Legs, tail, ears and horns (parts b-c) are separate. Legs and tail nailed to body. Ears and horns are inset, ears are secured with glue. Mouth and nostrils are incised, eyes painted on. Bottoms of legs are painted black, imitating hooves. Eyes are painted green and dark blue, with long black lashes. Mouth is periwinkle blue with a black outline, nostrils done in black. Horns decorated with periwinkle stripes, ears covered in periwinkle dots. Body, and top of tail, covered in large black, irregularly-shaped spots. Small dark green dots decorate spots. Dense white dot motifs across body, in between larger black spots. Tip of tail is painted dark blue. Artist inscription on base.
