Description

Painting on a piece of paper, in horizontal orientation; depicts two barramundi (barra) fish and plants. Painting background is dark brown, that lightens to yellow-brown and red-brown in the centre. The fish span the width of the painting and are swimming next to one another. Both have triangular heads, flared tails and oval-like bodies, that widen at the neck. They have two pear-shaped fins, close to the head, and semi-circular fins near the tail; both have spiny dorsal fins. The head, tail, pear-shaped fins and dorsal fins are maroon, outlined in white. Semi-circular fins are decorated with diagonal lines; bands of cross-hatching across body. Additional dots and line motifs throughout body. All decorations are done in white and yellow. There is a large yellow bulb in the bottom right corner, with roots. Leaves and flowers extend from it, stretching towards all corners of painting. Back of painting has a stamp on it; pencil inscriptions underneath.
