Description

Large round pot with a wide circular opening and tall lip. Shoulder curves out sharply before gently tapering to a small circular base. Exterior of pot is painted solid white and decorated with six bands of varying widths. Lip is decorated with two bands, trimmed with white borders, that are made up of squares. Squares are filled with an assortment of geometric motifs; done in white, black and dark red. Middle of pot is decorated with a wide band filled with an alternating design of irregular shapes; top edge is bordered with semi-circles, bottom has a plain border. Shapes alternate between design and the edge they extend from. Shape extending from top edge has a square-like top, circular middle and tiered rectangles, with rounded tips, on bottom. Stair-like design frames the tiered rectangles. Shape extending from the bottom edge is a rectangle with a rounded top; bent arrows protrude from either side. Three tiered rectangles frame the bottom of the shape. Both irregular shapes are filled with geometric motifs; done in dark red, black and white. Large insects are painted in between the shapes. Three bands decorate bottom third of pot. Top two are similar to bands around lip; third is filled with white arches, with the negative space painted black. Interior of pot is lightly painted white to the midpoint; bottom half is natural clay. Artist signature painted along edge of base.
