Description

Curved wood headrest carved from a single piece of wood; straight wide legs on either side. Exterior of legs are rounded and interior sides are straight; legs have a small lip at their bases. Bottom of main section of headrest has a sharp ridge running through the middle; diamond-shaped cut in centre of ridge. Rest of headrest is undecorated.

Narrative

Collected by the donor from the island of Savai'i, in Western Samoa, in 2000. The donor purchased it from a man in the village of Taga, while staying on the island with a Samoan family.
