Description

Small rectangular cedar slat basket with lid and two detached handles kept inside the basket. The stitching pattern of the basket is even and regular. The handles were attached to the sides and it looks like one was mended with a piece of metal wire. The handle in the center of the lid is detached and missing. The cedar has darkened with age and the red cherry bark decorations are chipping off. It is hard to tell what the original pattern was. The lip on the underside of the basket lid is mostly broken off.

Provenance

Donor said the basket was given to friends and family who lived in Ladner -said it was given to him by "Nass Indian".
