2025.O.001:01b (right moccasin)
one pair of semi-tanned worked skin moccasins with beaded vamps and embroidered cuffs. The vamps have a green and white beaded border around a beaded design of blue and yellow flowers. The cuffs are embroidered with green embroidery floss. They are hand sewn. The soles are discoloured and polished indicating use. The hide has some thinning

Provenance

Donation notes indicate that this belonging was acquired by Alice V. Bush (c1948 - 1969) matron at the Coqualeetza Tuberculosis Hospital. She remained as director of nursing until the hospital closed in 1969. Donation notes specify that the moccasins were acquired by Bush in 1950 and were "made in hospital by Indian Patients." This belonging was donated initially to the Atchelitz Thresherman's Association's (ATA) Pioneer Village and previously displayed there.
