Stone carved in the shape of a bird with a hole drilled into center.
The figure is the one fourth from the left (in back, largest figure). This figure has an open mouth with painted eyes. There is a pointed triangle on his forehead. His arms are short and held against his chest. His feet are also short and curled. See also 03.325.4527- 34. These figures were all found together inside a painted pot. They were purchased from the German trader, Cronmeyer.
Ceramic, high shoulder bowl with geometric black slip design of organic forms infilled with black stripes on grayware slip. Condition good.
Dipper style. Whitish-gray body with black paint design. Separate handle attached to side of bowl. Design of the exterior is plain; interior is 8 geometric stepped designs with interior triangles; handle has 3 black stripes on upper surface. Rattles in handle. Cracks and old repairs where handle joins the bowl. Paint cracks and two small holes along upper length of handle. One small chip from rim. Dark firing smudges on bowl exterior.
The object is a bowl with decorations on the inside and outside. Underneath much of the decoration is a dark blue-black burnished undercoat. The exterior decoration is composed of a series of cream-colored coyotes or wolves, birds, and bird tracks painted in procession around the base of the vessel. The interior decoration is composed of a cream-colored and blue-black non-objective, geometric design.
Jar is a globular form with a narrow, short neck and lipped rim. The exterior design is unevenly painted black on whitish gray ground and the bottom is plain. The pattern on the sides is alternating hatching and solid steps. The neck has a plain band, then thin frets and stacked triangles. Inside the mouth are six arrows pointing clockwise. Two sections broken off lip, 1 3/4" and 3/8". Abrasion of paint on bottom. Dark splotches from firing on sides.
Bowl, red-brown slip exterior, red on white interior, one hole inside rim, white writing on side reads "2499." Interior design consists of a human figure with a circle around their head and two feathers coming out of the top. A semi-circle of dots extends from the base of the feathers to a solid rectangle on the opposite side of the bowl. Condition: Small chips in rim
Quartzite stone carved in shaped of amphibian. Date and culture attribution is to be confirmed. Jemez consultants reported that when a frog speaks you know the rain will come.
This is a circular shell bracelet with carving of a frog on the valve of the shell. The head of the frog is on the shell while its back feet are in the air.
