Tunic3301/19

Woven tunic (cushma) with stripes. The tunic is composed of two long, rectangular panels folded in half, and then stitched together on the long edges, leaving an opening at the top for a head, and on the sides for arms. The garment is light beige with ten bands running vertically, the pattern mirrored on each side of the centre line. The bands are composed of various stripes of browns, light blue and black.

Bag2960/11

A square fabric bag with a long thin handle. The bag is made of one long narrow piece of cloth folded in half and sewn together along the sides. The top is hemmed with a wide circular stitch. The cloth has vertical stripes of light yellow and dark brown. The handle is thin and sewn to the bag at the top corners. One end of the handle has been allowed to fray into a tassel.

Bracelet2960/13

Fabric bracelet decorated with monkey teeth. The bracelet is made of a pieces of a woven grey fabric (possibly at one time white?), with thin stripes of green-grey running horizontally. On the interior, the pieces are connected by several strands of a fine, light coloured cord. The exterior of the bracelet is decorated with two lines of small money’s teeth, 123 in all, each with a tiny hole bored through it, all strung onto cords which are sewn to the bracelet.

Container2960/12 a-c

Small container made of a gourd. Part ‘a’ is the gourd which is long and bulbous at the bottom, narrowing at the long neck, with a small opening at top. Wrapped string and pitch surround the rim, and a white paste residue is inside the mouth. Part ‘b’ is a long and relatively straight stick that is inserted into the container. The bottom two-thirds is a bleached white colour, while the top is a light brown with a shiny finish. The top is carved into a handle. Part ‘c’ is a round, gold metal cap that sits on the mouth of the gourd to prevent the lid from falling into the container.

A man's tunic or poncho-style garment. The tunic is rectangular, and made up of four pieces of cloth that are sewn together at the sides of the garment as well as at the centre front and centre back. The fabric has vertical dark and light brown stripes. Holes are placed in the top sides for arms, and a small V is cut in the neck at front and back.

Long neck or bandolier style ornamental belt. Composed of thirteen strands of black and white seeds arranged to make a triangular pattern of alternate colours. Attached are six dried birds; two large orange, black and grey birds with a smaller grey and black bird at the opposing end. Around the sides are three small black birds with blue, green and red feathers and one brown bird.
