Shoulder SashB682

A wide fabric woven band. Main design consisting of multiple-layered red chevron lines on a dark blue background that has a cross-like shape of four cowrie shells or a large white circular button in between each section with a small white circular button above and below. Strands of natural light grey-yellow and dark red hair are attached along the bottom edge. Part-way through the ends of the band, they are stitched together with thread. Tassels are at the ends of the band.

Rectangular shaped shawl with cotton and wool fringe along one end. There is a dark orange border along the top and bottom followed by a row of black and white fine stripes. The central section is black with yellow and orange lines that separate each design. In the middle are two elephants with a horse on either side in yellow, white, green and red. Above and below the central figures are two birds ? and two flowers ? in white, orange, yellow and green. Bordering the middle are geometric designs in yellow, white, orange and green.

Pipe with bamboo mouthpiece that fits into a wooden shaft and bowl carved with a humanoid head on the front of the bowl and two animal figures, one four-legged and one seated, on the top of the shaft. The end of the shaft is wrapped with woven bamboo, and the shaft and bowl are coated with stain (?) and varnish.

A small unglazed clay figure on a circular pedestal base. Simplicity of form reveals a female torso with extended wing-like arms, and a pinched face. There is stick-poke detail on the headpiece, collar, eyes, and nipples. Has incised lines and pelleted eyes. Hair is knotted at the back.

A conical basket that is twill woven from thin split cane and is fastened around the top by lashing to a wide coil or loop of cane. The two ends are carried back, lashed and woven together to form the handle . A small piece of cane forms a loop whereby this item may be hung.

Rectangular, hand-woven shawl made of fine hand spun silk and cotton mixed yarn, decorated with cotton threads woven into the natural colour ground. Border design repeated at both ends, is an open band of alternating figures: stylized humans one above the other in mirror image; and an elaborated geometric motif. Narrow stripes at borders. A small triangular motif covers ground at widely spaced intervals. Detailing in red and black.
