Basket (part a) and a cover (part b) with a traditional design woven in and having a design that consist of a checkerboard alternated with man and antelope (part a) in black and natural colours. Basket (part a) has checkered handles. The lid (part b) has eight black squares around the edges.

Basket (b) and lid (a) made from coiled palm leaf with dyed black palm leaf in a ring on the lid, and alternating with natural palm leaf near the rim of the base with a thick band of black woven palm leaf in warp and weft weaving interspersed with bands of palm leaves running vertically. Four carved wooden figures (three paddlers, each wearing a sarong, and one passenger) standing in a canoe (part e) decorated with diagonal stripes, and with a trapezoidal protrusion at the front of the prow as well as a circular protrusion at the back. The shortest paddler (a) is holding a paddle (part f) with the end down to his right, the middle paddler (b) is holding his paddle (part g) with the end down to his left, and the tallest paddler (c) at the back of the canoe is holding his paddle (part h) with the end down to his right. The passenger (d), wearing a hat and suit, stands in front of the last paddler. The dark brown surfaces and designs on the figures and canoe have been burnt into the surface.

Arrow with metal head that has curved sides, a pointed tip, and a short twisted shaft that has been bound with stem ? to the long wooden shaft. Several dark brown feathers have been bound with stem ? near the end of the wooden shaft, and the very end has been wrapped with stem ? and is notched.

Wooden spatula with ovoid blade, and a handle that flares outwards to a point roughly one quarter of the way down the shaft, curves back inwards, and then flares outwards again at the end of the handle, which has three points. The spatula has several dots that have been burnt into the surface on the sides of the blade, where the handle joins the blade, and at the points on the handle.

Three figures on a rectangular base representing a woman consulting a witch doctor with a drummer. The female figure (a) is wearing a sarong and is standing with her arms extended forward, hands together. The drummer (b), wearing pants, is standing beside the woman with his hands on his drum. The witch doctor (c), wearing a two-tiered skirt and with a ribbed conical protrusion on the top of his/her head, is facing the other two figures and holding a conical object in his/her left hand. The base is decorated with a design of six dark brown triangles, joined in pairs with lines. The edges of the base are also dark brown. The designs and dark brown areas have been burnt into the wood.

Three female figures standing around a container on a disc-shaped platform and pounding corn. The figures all have elongated, ovoid-shaped heads with a red mark at the back, and each is wearing a sarong. One figure is wearing a sarong dotted with rectangular burn marks (a), another figure is wearing a sarong with vertical stripes (b) and the last figure is wearing a sarong with rectangular burn marks and a horizontal band (c). The container (d) is decorated with a zigzag line around the centre and two wide bands of dark brown at the top and bottom. Figure b is also holding a stick-like implement. Each figure has cylindrical protrusion at the bottom of their feet, as does the bottom of the container, and these protrusions fit into a hole in the base. The base is decorated with four triangles at the edge and one hole has been plugged. The designs have been burnt into the surface.

MaskK4.171

Wooden mask of a human face with a broad forehead, a wide nose, cut-out oval shaped eyes, round protruding ears, rounded cheeks, a protruding mouth with top and bottom rows of teeth, and a protruding beard with incised lines denoting hair. Mask is decorated with light coloured linear double-lines on the black background of the face. Grass cording is tied to the rim at the top of the mask.
