Long knife (part a), whittling knife (part b) and scabbard (part c). Long knife has a deer horn hilt carved into the profile of a bird’s head. Hourglass-like designs and curvilinear motifs incised throughout. Protruding from the top of the bird’s head and the beak are sections of short black and red hair. Hole drilled through pronounced nostrils, for hanging or attachment purposes. Hilt grip covered with woven band of rattan. The blade is convex on one side, slightly concave on the other, and widens from the hilt. Tip is angled. The whittling knife has a small curved blade attached to a long, slightly curved handle. Blade end of hilt decorated with a wide band of braided metal. Blades of both knifes are secured to hilts with resin. The scabbard is composed of a wood sheath for the long knife and a bark sheath for the whittling knife. Wood sheath made of two pieces of wood bound together with rattan. Ties alternate between single dyed strands and thick decorative bands. Bands, woven with naturally coloured and dyed strands, consist of “X”-shaped designs, concentric circles and knots. Wood is painted dark red and has incised motifs, matching designs on long knife hilt, throughout. Bark sheath is undecorated and secured to wood sheath with plain rattan ties. Braided rattan carrying cord, with looped end, threaded through bark sheath.
Cylindrical, twilled basket (part a) woven in a diagonal pattern with folded strips of grass. Has a string tied twice around the outside near top. Wadded up dark brown-green and black cloth (part b) is inside at the bottom. There is also a coil (part c) of plant fibre, possibly rattan?
Long knife (part a), with a small knife (pisau raut; part b), and scabbard (part c). The knife blade is convex on one side and slightly concave on the other side, and is decorated with inlaid brass in a series of circles and vines. The blade itself gets gradually wider and then tapers in forming a point in line with the cutting edge. The grip is wrapped with finely woven fibre. The hilt of horn is elaborately carved, with red pigment in the lines, and has two drilled holes for an attachment. The whittling knife (part b) has a small curved blade of steel, with a brass cap marked with illegible text. The shaft is of a dark brown wood which transitions into alternating rings of horn and wood. The slightly curved hilt is elaborately carved. The scabbard is composed of a wood sheath for the sword, and an attached bark sheath for the knife. The wood sheath is composed of two pieces of wood, bound together by woven plant fibre and animal skin. The locket(?) is ornately carved. There is a long carrying strap of plaited plant fibre, and an ornament of shell and thin tassels with beads of pink, blue, green, red and yellow.
Cylindrical container with a woven band around the top of the natural colour ground. Lid is attached with string. Lid is flat and carved with a swirl design on the top. Container has incised designs that consist of the following from top to bottom: tapering ovals with a half-feather-like extension at either side; tapering ovals with a half-feather-like extension at either side; a dark swirl pattern with intricate detailing; swirls with a half-feather-like extension at either side; tapering ovals with a half-feather-like extension at either side; and upward pointing triangles that have horizontal lines within.
Beaker-shaped woven basket in two layers with a fine outside of woven grass and a coarse inside of woven rattan. Brass for the foot and a brass band in the middle with a string handle. Woven geometric design in panels of red, black, and brown. Upper portion design consists of swirls. Lower portion design consists of diamond shapes that have petal-like shapes at either side within and extending swirls at either top and bottom within.
Conical woven hat that has three equally spaced, vertical bands of geometric patterns in black and red on a natural ground that consist of vertical diamond shapes with smaller ones within outlined by zig zags. Three equally spaced red-brown sticks in between the geometric bands extend upward to create a three-arched loop at the top with a pyamid below at the centre.
Conical woven hat that has three equally spaced, vertical bands of green, blue, and natural geometric borders with flowers in the three triangular panels around the lower portion. The beaded flowers have two with six green petals outlined by red with a multiple green leaves metallic coiling stem base while a multiple black leaves metallic coiling stem emanates from above with a red bud at either top end. The rim is green with red string and diagonal red beaded lines around the lower portion. Metallic coillng loops are at the top surrounded by radiating green bead lines. Lined with purple, yellow, and white printed lining.
Body of basketry woven hat is cylindrical and has a black geometric design on a natural background that consists of a central horizontal band of squares that have x shapes within bordered by outward pointing triangles at either end. Crown is decorated with split rattan radiating from the centre point which is made of thread and strips of fabric. Has a blue, red, and white tassel-like feature at the top centre. A bundle of yellow thread and a strip of red fabric are tied around the upper portion of the body of the hat just below the crown.
Basketry woven hat that has a cone shape. Spiral and geometric designs in natural colour and red. Black trim around the double rim with four equally spaced vertical extensions along the sides of the hat connecting at the top centre to a dome-like shape. Has a strap inside that goes from one side to the other.
Long knife, or sword (part a) and scabbard (part b). Scroll design is on the carved curved handle (part a) which is decorated with black hair and is wound with dark braided fibre. The long, flat metal blade (part a) is straight along the top with a curved edge along the bottom and comes to a pointed tip at the upper end. The scabbard (part b) has a lizard in relief and is decorated with black hair.
