Coil of two intertwined dyed silk prayer cords each made up of five separate colours of silk cord. Cord is tightly twisted together in a pattern of 1 white, 1 light green, 1 pink, 1 yellow, 1 blue (repeated). The cord is tied in a knot, with the ends of the cords bound by thin red thread.

The board backing is slightly larger than book itself.

Silk pillow. Object is round, flat on top and bottom, with a thick, straight edge. Red silk covers a paper structure, holding a sawdust filling. A triangular silk label is attached to the top centre, light in colour with black embroidery in Chinese characters.

Women's robe. Black garment is long with an A-line shape through torso toward hem. Garment is open at front, with high slits in the skirt on both sides. It closes by a fabric string that wraps around a fabric ball located on the collar. Collar is made of several patches of fabric sewn together, including one patch with light blue pin stripping. Sleeves are wide, and increase in width toward the cuffs, which are sewn closed but for a small opening at top for the hands. Opening is protected from tearing by reinforced stitching below hole, as are the arm holes.
Six different drumsticks. All are made of cut lengths of bamboo, ranging in length from 23 cm to 39 cm. Parts e-f have been narrowed slightly at one end and are covered with a black coating. The other sticks have not been modified or coated.
Round drum, double-faced, with drumming surface on both sides. Midsection flares out and is covered in a dark red velvet, with an encircling line of metal rivets on both sides of the fabric holding the skin tightly in place. Skin has been painted black. A metal noisemaker inside the instrument serves as a rattle.
Set of 4 brass clappers (parts a-d). Metal pieces are identical in shape and size: half circles with a curved top edge and flat bottom, very thin. Part 'a' has an engraved inscription covering one side, telling the troupe name, year, city, and performers' names. Parts b-c have shorter inscriptions scratched into their surfaces. Part d is unmarked. The carrying case (part e) is rectangular, made of a soft vinyl lined with cotton. A flap folds over one end and fastens to the body of the case with a Velcro closure.
