Civil rank badge. The silk badge vertically divides into two halves, with the embroidered image continuing across both pieces. Embroidery contains both silver and gold couching. The central figure is a standing bird, embroidered onto a separate piece of fabric that has been sewn onto the panel. The bird stands on one foot, with wings partly spread. The embroidered background, from bottom to top, has a two-tone regular pattern in gold, blue rectangles, an irregular pattern in gold, and small blue rectangles in a regular pattern interspersed with a variety of motifs. A border edges the panel in a repeating pattern of motifs. Colours are blue, dark blue, black, gold, green, and red.

Ceremonial Cloth2787/27

Turquoise silk cloth with an overlaid purple centre panel and a looping gold filament border stitched on around the edge. The top surface of the runner-like cloth is covered with a decorative hand embroidery of mixed gold and copper filaments attached in a couching-technique known as stumping, with the resultant cross hatching of the ivory coloured thread covering the under surface. Cloth has long twined strands that hang out beneath metal fringe at both ends.

Altar Cloth2787/21

Ceremonial altar cloth (tok wi). Long rectangle of green silk with imbedded floral patterning is hemmed on three edges and has a border sewn along the fourth edge, consisting of three different strips of fabric hand embellished with couching techniques and embroidery in gold, silver and blue thread. Two edges are lined at the back with strips of an orange coloured silk.

Cantonese Opera Skirt2701/2 b

A skirt of shiny blue-green fabric decorated with sequins of darker blue-green and silver in a pattern of lotus flowers, stems, and leaves. It has two narrow front panels outlined in sequins that hang from a white cotton waist band with v-openings and ties at each side. The remainder of the skirt is pleated, and has a simpler sequin design along the bottom. The skirt is worn with a blouse (2701/2 a) as a costume.
