Storage BasketA8990

Coiled tan storage basket (part a) and lid (part b) with simple interlocking coiled work. Sides have bifurcated stitches. Parallel slat base construction with reinforced stitches along sides, an overcast rim, and a foot of three coiled rows. Partial imbrication of isolated figures and vertical bands. The sides have one vertical band in white/black/white with black and red triangles along the sides. At either side of this central vertical band, there are two stars in black around a white rectangle with circumscribed concentric diamonds on the interior. The ends have imbricated triangles. Vertical band and bird designs. Foot is beaded in a white grass. The lid (part b) has a design that continues from the basket in the same manner and has a double-corded handle with a branch wrapped around the middle.

Upward flaring, circular basket (part a) with a lid (part b). Both the basket (part a) and the lid (part b) have a design that consists of four equally spaced diagonal red, white, black, white, red lines that curve around their sides. The basket (part a) has red sections around the foot. The lid (part b) has a knob.

Natural coiled cedar root storage basket (part a) with a lid (part c) and a handle (part b). Simple interlocking coiled work with bifurcated stitches on the sides. Parallel slat bottom and lid (sewn at edges), and a single slat, coiled foot. Cross-stitched border to the lid. Red and black geometric pattern. The lid (part c) has a large red and inner black triangle-diamond shape formed of single, unattached imbrication. Additional black stitches at the edges. The basket (part a) front and back have two detached tri-colour figures, a diamond shape above an outward curling v shape, with vertical tri-colour bands on each side. The sides have two tri-colour chevron figures on each side. The basket (part a) has two handles, one of which is attached and the other of which is detached (part b).

Round coiled cedar root basket (part a) with lid (part b). Parallel slat base construction with indented slat flange on the basket body and the slat foot. Basket (part a) has overcast handles (one missing). Decorated with imbrication and beading in cherry bark and white grass. Design consists of rows of large and widely spaced modified diamond figures. Lid (part b) has watch-spring construction with a three point star design.

Brown, elongated, elliptically shaped baby carrier with a flat bottom and open top. Horizontal bands of light brown colour are woven along the upper portion of the top half of the cradle; repeating red and black vertical designs cover the sides.

Gambling Game PiecesA8176

Set of seven game pieces (parts a-g) made from beaver teeth. The teeth have a natural colour of pink and cream. They are semi-circular in shape and are decorated with series of incised lines and circles. Each piece differs in decoration. Some of the teeth have a fibrous material on the inside. One has black fibre twine wrapped on the outside, another has a small piece of red fabric.

Model Hunting CanoeA1528

Wooden model canoe. The stern of the canoe ends in a triangle shape painted red. The bow of the canoe curves upwards and extends to form a figurehead. The figurehead on both sides of the canoe has an eye outlined in black, surrounded in red dots and outlined again in blue with green eyelashes. The nose is striped with a green line, a black line and a blue line. A red zigzag line extends down from the figurehead. One side of the canoe is decorated with a black whale, a bird highlighted with red, blue and green and a black stylized animal. The other side of the canoe has only the black whale. The interior of the canoe is unpainted.

Model CanoeA8139 a-k

Carved model canoe with ten wooden paddles. The canoe is long and narrow with twelve wooden dividers and eleven benches inside. The ends of the canoe are raised; the pieces were made separately and attached to the canoe. The stern ends in a triangle with one added piece. The bow ends in tiny overhanging triangle with two added pieces. The inside of the canoe is blue with unpainted benches and dividers. The outside of the canoe is white and red. On both sides the name "Mermaid" and "Galiano B.C." are painted. The paddles are painted red, white and blue (parts b-k).
