Wooden game piece stained red-brown. The stick is triangular in shape with a thicker top that tapers into a point. Carved into the top is a thunderbird in profile. The remainder of the piece has a carved scalloped edge on each side. There are two nails in the top of the stick, one just below the bird and another near the point that fasten it to a game board (A17073 a-b).
Spatulate tool. Long flat bone piece, slightly triangular in shape with one wider end and rounded tips. Made from sea mammal bone. The bone has a spongy appearance.
Weaving (part a) with hanging bar (parts b-d). Weaving has ground of natural white wool; design features a central rectangle consisting of columns of chevrons trimmed with triangles along the top and bottom edges. Red-brown, grey, and checked bands divide the columns. Chevrons are done in rows and alternate directions; done in black, white, and mint green. Top and bottom sides of rectangle are trimmed with white bands with red-brown triangles of varying sizes. Right side of box bordered with thin band of semi-circles and a striped line; left side has wavy lines with solid and dual-coloured diamonds. White, with red-brown, fringe along left, right and bottom edges; hanging pocket sewn on back, along top edge. Hanging bar (part b) consists of cylindrical rod with two animal heads on either end, to prevent weaving from sliding off (parts c-d). Animals are open-mouthed and their facial features are made up of formline design elements.
White wool weaving with long fringe attached to sides and bottom edge. The fringe is predominantly white, with pairs of long dark brown fringe spaced evenly throughout. Six rows of designs across entire surface; done in dark brown. From top to bottom, the designs are: plain thin line, wide line trimmed with thin ones on either side, wide vertical zigzags, checkered pattern with rectangles throughout, wide vertical zigzags, and wide vertical zigzags. Bottom edge bordered with band filled with chevrons.
Chief's blanket, or robe, of woven wool. Rectangular weaving with off-white fringes attached to three sides. Horizontal designs in grey-brown, off-white, dark orange, gold, and dark brown, creating rows (top to bottom) of stripes, triangles, a large zigzag, a checkered pattern, a flying bird pattern(?), then diagonal stripes. Two orange and white braided ties attached to top edge.
Pair of leather dance moccasins with tassels around the ankle and lower calf. Beaded floral design on top of foot. Top of upper tassel has been edged by pinking shears and lined with purple fabric. Leather is hand-stitched. Leather laces.
Wooden plank, slightly concave on one side and slightly convex on the outer rough wood side. Signs of adze work, especially along one edge where the "lip" has been removed. Small nail holes and some nails throughout plank.
Capilano house post. Carved wooden post depicting a male figure, Chief Capilano (qiyəplenəxʷ), with a U-shaped headdress. The face of the figure is round with straight brow-line and features engraved in low-relief. Covered with traces of red paint. Figure is in very bad condition and broken into several large pieces and separate arms.
Sawbill-face mask with protruding cylindrical eyes. Two bird's heads on top of face. A third bird's head forms the nose. Unpainted.
