Trinket BasketA1856

Basket with simple interlocking coiled work, bifurcated stitches, and watch-spring base construction with a foot one slat high. Overcast rim separates to form two small handles. Decorated with imbricated designs. The rim is beaded in red cherry bark. The body has partial imbrication of four vertical continuous panels, three stitches wide, in red cherry bark, bullrush, and red cherry bark. The foot also has some beading in red cherry bark.

Storage BasketA1976

Brown basket (part a) and lid (part b) with interlocking coiled work, bifurcated stitches. Sides (part a) have eight vertical designs (three each on the long sides and two each on the ends) in red cherry bark with white grass. Design consists of a black/white centre of a vertical row of diamond shapes with the same in red at either end. Smae black/white centre at the ends. The basket has a foot that is beaded with large strips of red cherry bark. There is some beading on the lid (part b), but most of the beading has been lost. Parallel slat base and lid and a foot composed of a 1" slat.

Model Racing CanoeA1534

Miniature canoe carved out of cedar wood with wolf's head finial on one end. Six unfinished cross-bars support the canoe, which is painted red on the inside with darker red on the inner and top of the gunwale, dark green on the outside with a band of lighter green on the outer gunwale, and white at the ends.

Part (a) Urn shaped coiled work (bifurcated stitches) basket with handles at shoulder and foot at base. Watch-spring lid and base construction; lid with 2" diameter hole in centre, indented slat flange. Imbricated pattern of alternating vertical rows of arrows in either dark cherry and cat-tail grass, or red cherry and cat-tail grass. In between these rows is a smaller row of diamond shapes of red cherry bark and cat-tail grass. Part (b) Lid - 6 double tiered diamond figures in cherry bark and cat-tail, alternating red/cat-tail and black/cat-tail.

Canoe BailerA1423

Small cedar bark canoe bailer with wooden handle. The outer bark is on the exterior surface and some has been removed from each end where the bark has been folded up and pleated. The ends have been secured to the wooden handle with strips of bark. There is a small hole in the handle near the centre, which goes all the way through.

Wooden model canoe. The bow and stern of the canoe become thinner and curve upwards slightly. The stern is thicker than the bow. The sides of the canoe are decorated with four figures painted in red, green and black. The interior of the canoe is undecorated.

Red and tan coiled cedar root basketry cradle. The rim is beaded in black cherry bark (1:1 ratio). The first four slat rows are beaded with four rows, the first in black cherry bark and the next three in cat-tail grass (2:1 ratio) over varying parts of the basket. Twelve small imbricated panels in one of two basic patterns. Simple interlocking coiled work (bifurcated stitches) with parallel slat construction and an overcast rim. There are three holes, one made at the shorter end and two side-by-side on the bottom.

Design consists of alternating red and black chevrons on a light yellow background.
