Picture Frame3421/7

Carved and painted picture frame holding a coloured photo of the Goose Bay Cannery, behind glass. Each side of the frame has a pole with (top to bottom): seated eagle with wings folded in, downward-facing whale, and an Indigenous man depicted with long braids. Along the top is an eagle with its wings spread, and along the bottom is a sisiutl (double-headed serpent) with a central face of a supernatural being.

The man wears a Plains-style bonnet and is seated with arms holding the animal figure. The animal figure is upside-down. The black bear is in an upright seated position, and holds a face in its paws.

Painted model pole carved with (top to bottom) eagle, man, bear, whale; on a rectangular wooden base. The eagle has separately carved and attached wings (part b) spread out to its side. The man wears a Plains-style bonnet and is seated with arms held together in front of his body. The black bear is in an upright seated position. It has it's teeth bared, and tongue out. In its paws it holds the head of a canine-type creature. The grey whale faces downwards with its tail flipped up and curled under the bear. All three fins have been carved separately and attached.

Basket2899/1 a-b

Large rectangular lidded basket with handles and a tight weave. The basket body is deep with a wide mouth, narrowing to a smaller base, with imbricated diamond, triangle and arrow shaped patterns in colours of tan, dark brown and red-brown decorating all sides. The lid (part b) is flat and has a low profile. It is decorated with imbrication similar to that on the body. The basket has two half circle handles attached at the shorter sides, just under the rim (one reattached in 2019).

Coast Salish Potlatch Dress3339/1

Tunic-style dress made of woven cedar bark, with full-length wool panel down the centre front. Wool woven around cedar bark in horizontal rows throughout dress. Cedar bark and dark brown wool fringe along bottom edge. Dark brown wool fringe down entire left and right sides of dress. Wool panel on front has white background with mirrored chevron pattern. Small teal diamond in middle of pattern with alternating light blue, dark blue, brown and teal V shapes, on either side of diamond, until top and bottom ends of panel. Inner V’s made up of coloured triangles. Outer three V’s are solid teal, light blue and dark blue. Top and bottom edges of panel are dark brown. White wool fringe along top and bottom edges of panel, top fringe hangs inside of dress. Interior lined with dark brown wool.

Blanket3356/1

Weaving with a background of natural off-white wool. The design features a box created by a black and off-white checkerboard pattern with some brown-yellow within. This box is bordered by brown-red checkerboard with two black lines across the top, and three black lines across the bottom. Within the box, a series of horizontal bands with triangles and zigzags. Between the bands is a grid of four by four small sections of bold zigzag designs with small natural off-white sections in between (three by three). The loops along the top of the blanket are shorter than those along the bottom.
