South coast style double-weave basketry hat. Hat is cone-shaped, with a fine tight weave, and undecorated. The top of the hat is flat, with four larger crossed pieces at centre. Inside, there is a woven band to fit on a head.
Wooden mat creaser carved in the shape of a duck. Head raised at one end and tail feathers at the other, with a rounded body between. The ventral surface has a long, deep groove.
Double weave basketry hat. Hat is cone-shaped, made in a small tight weave, undecorated but for two slightly protruding encircling lines placed just below peak and above the rim. Hat’s point is made of four wide strips of bark that are then separated into smaller strands and incorporated into the general weave. A smaller inset cone is found high in the interior, serving as a headband. Its rim is lined with a weave of cotton.
Blanket fragment. The textile is woven of thick wool, with lines of fabric plaited vertically- two lines of dark brown on each end and two of magenta at centre. Tassels hang sparsely from one of the narrow ends, while the adjacent edge has been cut, causing the weaving to loosen and fray over time.
Rectangular woven wall hanging with a mirrored diamond pattern. Dyes used are made of natural materials. Background is off-white, with brown checked squares along the edges coloured with walnut shells. At centre of weaving is a small light tan diamond coloured with onion skin, surrounded by a thick diamond of dark brown made of red stemmed dock with logwood strips, then two strips of light rust-brown of goldenrod and chrome or copper, light yellow-green of goldenrod and alum, and light brown coloured with lichen. At back are two canvas pockets sewn along the long edges as hanging mechanisms.
Small weaving with diamond, half-diamond and lightning designs. Textile is rectangular, vertical, slightly wider at top, with rounded corners at bottom. Lines of cream, yellow, green and mottled grey fill the weaving in a zigazg pattern from top to bottom, with large mottled grey diamond shapes at centre and half-diamonds down both sides. At top are small loops of cream coloured wool from which to hang the weaving. Blue 'Salish Weaving' tag sewn to back.
Blanket fragment. The textile is woven of thick wool, with lines of fabric plaited vertically- two lines of dark brown on each end and two of magenta at centre. Tassels hang from one of the narrow ends, while the adjacent edge has been cut, causing the weaving to loosen and fray over time. Cuts to the centre strands have partially cleaved the textile in two.
Open-weave basket with a tumpline fibre strap attached. The basket is rectangular, with a slightly rounded base, walls flaring gently outward toward a thick, wrapped rim. Short cords are attached at each corner to hold the tumpline strap, or handle, which is a braid of many thin cotton strands. At the centre of the wool strap, strips of cotton fabric in green, pink and other colours are tightly woven in, to create padding.
Small rectangular weaving, meant to hang vertically from loops around a wooden bar shaped like an arrow. Zigzag lines intersect with each other in colours of cream, brown, green, grey and bright yellow, laying in horizontal strips across the textile that are divided by narrow cream and grey bands. A short fringe hangs from the bottom edge. Blue 'Salish Weaving' tag sewn to back.
Rectangular weaving dyed light brown and green in alternating horizontal strips, with large triangles of yellow and light orange emerging from the edges, and a pair of smaller tringles in light yellow or dark brown in the centre of each strip. Strips are separated by a thin line of light brown. Side borders are a mix of cream and green-brown. On the front, along the top edge is a strip of gold coloured cotton twill. Blue 'Salish Weaving' tag sewn to back.
