Between the two bands there is a red-brown piece of leather that is wrapped around the 5th and 10th teeth and also attached to the grass weaves, with five holes at the top and two at the bottom.

When extended, the fan has thirty-one panel pieces each with cut-out floral and vine-like designs on the top three-quarters of the panel. Each panel piece is strung together near the top of the fan by strand of white coloured braided fibre and the bottom portion of panel pieces are secured with a looped metal clasp.
