Paddle Club2960/44

Intricately carved iron wood paddle shaped club with a broad blade with incised and hatched designs comprising conjoined triangles and a pair of 'sun-burst' designs. The blade is long, rising slightly to a pointed line running down the centre, slightly concave on the ventral side, convex on the dorsal. An incised pattern of lines creates small squares across the surface of both sides. The shoulder of the blade widens out to blunt edges, with two sunburst patterns carved into the wood, surrounded by the incised squares. A line of triangles delineates the shoulder from both the body of the blade and the neck. The neck narrows into the shaft, which is undecorated. The grip is slightly flared.
